It turns out Harry Maguire knows his way around the oche after proving his darts prowess in the presence of Luke Littler.

The Manchester United defender rose to the challenge during a meet-and-greet with the 2024 World Darts Championship runner-up. Not that 'The Nuke' needed much time to blow his score out of the water, but 'Slabhead' impressed nonetheless by finding the treble 20 with one of his nine attempts.

United fan Littler swapped the masses of Alexandra Palace for a more intimate setting to go up against Maguire and Christian Eriksen in a dart-off. Not that he wouldn't have been keen to entertain with Red Devils Rasmus Hojlund, Victor Lindelof, Mason Mount and Tom Heaton among those in attendance.

And Maguire, 30, revelled in the applause after landing one perfect dart as he racked up a score of 171 with his nine attempts. That bested Eriksen's total of 136, with Littler then stepping up to see how many throws it would take him to top the pile.

Three was the answer as The Nuke lasered in three treble 20s in almost effortless fashion. And what better way to celebrate one's 17th birthday than by besting some of the current stars from his favourite club?

"Maguire cooked [to be fair]," wrote one viewer in praise of the England defender, who has been widely criticised for his performances in recent seasons. And they weren't the only one as another social media user added: "Maguire held it down [not gonna lie]."

Others made the all but inevitable connection that Maguire may want to try his hand at darts full-time, with one fan commenting: "Damn Maguire is better at darts than he is at football." And a fourth replied: "Harry is good at this. A career switch maybe?"

Littler is currently preparing for his Premier League Darts debut after earning a call-up for one of the sport's biggest events of the year. He finished second to Luke Humphries at Ally Pally earlier this month and will face a rematch against the same opponent when the Premier League kicks off at Cardiff's Utilita Arena on February 1.
