The Joy Ride star told fans she has spent an entire week in the intensive care unit being treated by medical staff. Ashley Park was rushed to the ICU after her tonsillitis turned into the infection septic shock early on in the new year. The 32-year-old had been quiet on social media for some time, but returned to Instagram to extend her gratitude to those who rallied around her. She recently posted photos of herself in the hospital bed when her health took a turn for the worse.

The TV star told followers, while on vacation in late December for New Year, she developed tonsillitis. However, it “spiraled into critical septic shock”, a serious infection that could have taken Ashley Park’s life. The National Institutes of Health declare, in septic shock, the mortality rate stands at 50%.

The celebrity wrote: “As I sit here processing and recovering from the first few weeks of 2024, the only word I can think of is grateful.

“While on holiday in December into New Years, what started as tonsillitis spiraled into critical septic shock, which infected and affected several of my organs. I am grateful that my health has improved despite what we had initially been told.”

The star also seemed to confirm her relationship with co-star Paul Forman. She thanked him for being “unconditionally” by her side through it all. The actor joined the Netflix show in the third season.

She added: “You calmed my fears and held me through ambulances, three foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, scary ERs, countless scans and tests and injections, excruciating pain, and so much confusion all while we were alone on the other side of the world far from those we know. I love you Paul. More than I can ever say.”

Ashley Park then thanked the medical staff who cared for her at her bedside, saying she was “deeply grateful” for what they did.

It seems the stars were enjoying a vacation in the Maldives, as she also extended thanks to the staff at the Joali Being resort.

Ashley ‘hesitated’ telling fans what happened

The star was candid in the post, showing her sensitive side of not being sure o whether to reveal the details of her health scare with fans.

She added: “I hesitated to share what’s been happening as I’m still in the throes of recovery…but I now know I’m safely on the other side of the worst.

“Thanks for reading this. I’m sorry for being so absent recently to so much and to people in my life. I love you all. I’m healing and I promise I’m gonna be okay.”

Celebrity pals and other stars rushed to send their well-wishes to her.

Selena Gomez added: “My heart 😢 I’m so grateful you are okay but praying for more healing.”

Paris Hilton wrote: “Love you 🥺 feel better sis 🙏🩷”

Co-star Lily Collins penned: “I can hardly look at these without crying. I love you sister, and I’m forever grateful you’re on the other side of this and for @peforman for your incredibly huge heart and for being there every step of the way. I cannot wait to hug you both ❤️”

Forman simply wrote: “My love,” with a red heart emoji. In the photos, we can also see the Netflix star kissing Ashley’s forehead as she lie in the bed.
